Kumho

The Kumho Tire Company headquartered in Seoul was founded in 1960 and celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Today, it is one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers. The company belongs to the tradition-steeped Kumho Asiana Group, one of Korea’s most renowned and biggest corporations which, for example, includes Asiana Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance. With over 10,000 employees worldwide, Kumho primarily produces and sells tyres for passenger cars, commercial vans and trucks. Kumho has production sites in Korea, China, and Vietnam. In addition, the company operates research & development centres in Korea, China, Europe and North America. Worldwide, Kumho tyres are fitted to vehicles by OEMs such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz or the Korean manufacturers Hyundai and Kia. Kumho Tire Europe GmbH based in Offenbach am Main directs the marketing and distribution activities in Germany and Europe.

In motorsport, Kumho in 2010 is again the exclusive tyre supplier to the Formula 3 Euro Series, the world’s most powerful Formula 3 championship. The prestigious Formula 3 Masters at Zandvoort is again exclusively being supported by Kumho as well. In addition, the company has specific Kumho motorsport commitments in many European countries in line with respective national focal areas. Examples include the Nürburgring Endurance Championship (VLN) including the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife or the commitments in the British and Irish Rally Championships.
