Carlin Motorsport to race with Mirko Bortolotti

21.10.2009 - Carlin Motorsport are going to contest the season finale at Hockenheim with Mirko Bortolotti. The 19-year old Red Bull protégé will replace the team’s regular Euro Series driver Brendon Hartley who is going to contest the Formula Renault 3.5 season finale, this weekend.

For Bortolotti it will be the first Formula 3 Euro Series appearance. He contested the 2009 Formula 2 season, secured a race win and a total of five podium finishes. In 2008 he won the Italian Formula 3 Championship and afterwards, he was offered the chance of testing a Formula 1 Ferrari and surprised the pundits with his pace.

“Racing at Hockenheim certainly won’t be easy for me,” Bortolotti says. “I haven’t contested a single Formula 3 race, this year and therefore, I will have to re-accustom to these cars. Furthermore, both the Volkswagen and the Kumho tyres represent virgin soil for me and I have never been a Hockenheim. And I will have just an hour to familiarise myself with all these factors. So, it will be a difficult task but I’m delighted with having been offered this chance, nevertheless.”

In addition to Bortolotti, the squad’s regular Jake Rosenzweig also will represent the Carlin Motorsport colours, at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg.
